Open-Toe Free Motion Spring Foot, Pfaff

This foot features built-in spring action that holds your fabric down as the needle rises—helping to prevent fabric lift and reduce skipped stitches during free-motion quilting or embroidery. It’s ideal for maintaining even, controlled stitches on all types of fabrics, giving you cleaner results with every pass.

How to Use:

1. Disengage the IDT™ System Turn off the Integrated Dual Feed if your machine has this feature.
2. Remove the Presser Foot Holder Loosen the presser foot holder screw completely and remove the foot holder from your machine.
3. Attach the Foot Place the Open Toe Free-Motion Foot around the presser bar and use the included screw to secure it in place. Be sure the metal arm on the foot rests above the needle clamp for proper spring action.

Hint: Lower the needle slightly to help position the foot’s guide above the needle clamp more easily.


4. Thread Your Machine Thread both the top and bobbin as usual.
5. Select Your Stitch Choose either a straight stitch or a zigzag stitch (with a max width of 5.0 mm).
6. Set to Free-Motion Mode Switch your PFAFF machine to spring foot free-motion mode. On some machines, the feed dogs will drop automatically; on others, you’ll need to lower them manually—check your owner’s manual for details.

Note: When the feed dogs are down, your machine won’t move the fabric—you control the stitch length and direction by moving the fabric yourself.


7. Start Sewing Maintain a consistent sewing speed and move the fabric smoothly in all directions. Use the red markings on the foot to help guide your motion when stippling or following patterns.
